Hi… okay, um… so I’m going to do the thing I do whenever I begin a Homestuck blog. Well, I mean, it’s not really a blog, but more of an informative document, about the quadrants and quirks and background of the trolls for all the non-Homestucks in this club. Not that it’s a bad thing or anything because it’s over and illegal to talk about, but I love doing this to inform people because the troll community is very confusing. So...I’m just going to start the doc now. Please enjoy…? Also, their names will be highlighted in their blood color. There are twelve so I thought this would make it a little easier.
Now, before I go into the background of the characters, I’m going to explain the quadrants. I am going to shorten it, however, because the way the way the narrator explains it takes a very long time.
Matesprite (<3): This is the relationship two trolls have when they are in love with each other.
Moirail ( <>): This is the relationship two trolls have when they are BFFs with each other
Kismesis (<3<): This is the relationship two trolls have when they are in a sort of hate-love relationship
Auspice: (o8<): This relationship actually involves three trolls. There is a pair of kismesis-ridden trolls, and the auspice keeps them from flat-out obliterating each other.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, we can get into explaining the trolls! Yay!!
Aradia Megido: Aradia is a quiet girl who, unfortunately, is the first troll to die in Homestuck (note: troll). We don’t even get to see the death in the comic itself, we just get the backstory. I’m not going to explain how she died just in case you decide to start reading it, but it’s kinda a big part. She has three forms. Her natural form, her robot form, and her god tier form. I’ll try to save god tier for later, but the summary is it’s kinda like a superhero form you acquire when you die. Her typing quirk for a website called Trollian (it’s kinda like DM-ing your friends on Instagram) is a very calm and collected quirk, but she uses 0’s for O’s (that s0unds way t00
c0mplicated). Her quadrants are: Aradia Megido <3 Sollux Captor and Aradia Megido <3< Vriska Serket. Her weapon of choice is a whip since she really enjoys going on adventures and the Indiana Jones movies. Her parental guardian, or lusus, is a ram ghost, her zodiac sign is Aries, and her Trollian name is apocalypseArisen.
Tavros Nitram: Tavros, my son, is the most adorable little thing in Homestuck. He so sweet and gentle and loves card games and roleplaying! (like me!) He is crippled, however, in the first few pages because of something Vriska did to him. Again, not going to explain what she did just in case you start reading it, but after a while, he gets robotic legs, but he can never get down the stairs without falling once. His typing quirk is a result of reverse-capitalization and uses commas for periods. (uHH,,,sOMETHING LIKE THIS,) His quadrants are: Tavros Nitram <> Gamzee Makara, Tavros Nitram <3< Vriska Serket. His weapon of choice is a lance, his lusus is a tiny, flying bull named Tinkerbull, his zodiac sign is Taurus, and his Trollian name is adiosToreador.
Sollux Captor: Sollux is a computer wizard. He can hack, code, and program just about anything. He does have a lisp and is not the nicest person you’ll meet, but not the worst. He, like Tavros, has two forms: his normal self, and his half-dead self. (not explaining how) His typing quirk is a little more complicated. Since he has two different eye colors, his sign is Gemini, and he has two chances at life, kinda, he changes his “s”’s to “2”’s and doubles his “i”’s. He also uses “two” in every sort of context. (Thii2 quiirk ii2 ea2iier two read wiith a lii2p, tru2t me, iit help2) His quadrants are: Sollux Captor <3 Aradia Megido/Feferi Piexes (after Aradia’s death), Sollux Captor <> Karkat Vantas, Sollux Captor <3< Eridan Ampora. He doesn’t have a weapon because he uses telekinesis waves to attack people and things, his lusus is a double cyclops (it has two heads), his zodiac sign is Gemini, and his Trollian name is twinArmageddons. (I apologize if this color hurt your eyes in anyway.)
Karkat Vantas: Karkat is a leader. Or, so he says he is. He’s actually just a giant attention hog who needs praise and love constantly. He is very angry. All the time. He only has one form throughout the whole comic, not one alteration is given to him. Technically, Karkat should come after Aradia, but his actual blood color is considered a mutation. His blood color is actually bright red, like us humans. He is very self-conscious about it and will suddenly be extremely emotional if you catch even a glimpse of red on him. That’s the reason he’s always so angry. He tries to act tough. Aww OwO. His quirk matches his angry personality and is just all caps, except when he’s whispering. He also swears a lot. (I’M NOT GOING TO SWEAR BECAUSE I KNOW THIS IS A SCHOOL DOCUMENT SO HERE’S AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT HIS TYPING LOOKS LIKE 24/7) Karkat’s quadrants consist of Karkat Vantas <> Gamzee Makara (that didn’t last), Karkat Vantas <> Nepeta Leijon (that didn’t last either) Kanaya Maryam o8< Karkat Vantas- anyone. His weapon of choice is a sickle, his lusus is a giant crab monster, his zodiac sign is Cancer, and his Trollian name is carcinoGeneticist. He ruined the rainbow. Come on, Karkat.
Nepeta Leijon: Nepeta is the very definition of crazy cat lady. She lives in a cave and does nothing but ship. Shipping is her life. Heck, she even has an entire wall dedicated to shipping her friends. She is given no alteration, though she is shown without her hat in some panels (not that it matters or anything) She loves roleplaying, like Tavros, but engages mostly with her friend, Terezi Pyrope. Her quirk matches her roleplaying style and will always start her sentences with “:33<” she uses cat puns constantly, uses “33” for “ee” and refers to herself in third-person. (:33< *ac shows the purrfect readers what her typing quirk is. S33? It is not that hard to type in roleplaying style.*) Since Nepeta is the queen of shipping, it’s more than likely that she has her own quadrants. Nepeta’s quadrants are: Nepeta Leijon <3 Karkat Vantas, (ha ha nope), Nepeta Leijon <> Equius Zahhak, Nepeta Leijon <3< Eridan Ampora. Her weapon of choice is a pair of wolverine claws, her lusus is a giant cat, her zodiac sign is Leo, and her Trollian name is arsenicCatnip
Kanaya Maryam: Kanaya is a very fashionable troll who has a very deceiving touch. She’s actually what trolls call a Rainbow Drinkers. They’re basically the vampires of Alternia. They’re called Rainbow Drinkers because there is more than just one color of blood, there’s twelve. So it would be kinda repetitive to call them vampires if they drink all types of blood. Kanaya has two forms. She has her normal, gray-skinned self, but she also has a form where her skin glows. Usually this happens whenever she’s around something she really likes (cough cough Rose Lalonde cough cough).Her quirk is a very formal and basically every FOB song title (Remember Me For Centuries) Her quadrants consist of Kanaya Maryam <3< Eridan Ampora, Gamzee Makara, and Vriska Serket. Also Kanaya Maryam o8< Karkat Vantas. Her weapon of choice is a chainsaw, her lusus is a giant moth mom, her zodiac sign is Virgo, and her Trollian name is grimAux.
